Mini Overview
Faced with the growing threat of World War III, the world’s psyche was unprepared for the bombardment the Virus caused. Many of the infected went insane; others become power hungry, using the virus to seize what they now believed was rightfully theirs. As such many were wiped out long before The Archos Facility was founded. The remaining infected were gathered to the facility in hopes testing could help the virus be purged from their systems. Some went willingly while others were forcibly seized from their homes. Still, others were simply ‘disposed of’. All in hopes of ridding the world of what was quickly becoming known by the more common term of magic.
After two years, no cure has been found and new cases of the 87O-A virus are coming to the surface. What exactly are the heads of The Archos Facility doing? Government funding is pouring in along with private funding. But new cases are springing up at an alarming rate.
The Infected, while seemingly treated well, are far from the best circumstances. Living in the compound that is the facility, they are confined to their small rooms for most of the day. Limited to a few small hours in the rec room and yard.
The innocent are mixed with the crazed, with no thought to the safety of those ‘in the care of the facility’. Of course, there is the matter that each is a weapon on their own. Magic is strictly prohibited in view of the guards. However, there are places the guards don’t bother to check and everyone has been known to accept bribes…
Many have never known some of the daily comforts the Facility provides - Living in countries that are fast approaching a Third World status. Coupled with the ever present dangers from the fellow Infected and the more terrifying time spent with their ‘Doctors’, the Facility floats between two extremes.
‘The Archos Facility for Research and Rehabilitation’ became simply ‘The Purgatory’.”
